I've been taking these dance classes for a little over a month now and I have to admit something. The time has come for some cute workout gear. The old t-shirts are not working.
All of the girls in the class are quite cute but that does not make me insecure. I am as cute as most of them but I could be even cuter with new, cute workout clothes. I used to see workout clothes as not worth spending the money on. You are just sweating in them, what's the point? But I actually am not being supported the way I need to be. I am well-endowed upfront and well, I need a little extra lift, especially if I am taking two dance classes in a row.
I really want this but it's a bit pricey. Does anyone have any suggestions for where I can buy cute workout gear (that fits an XL) that is not really, really expensive? Y'all are the best.
Honestly, $55 for that super-cute Nike top is quite reasonable. Go for it! I treated myself to a running outfit last month. The shorts were $38 and the top was $40. I got both at Jack Rabbit Sports near Union Square. Jack Rabbit also sells great detergent for sports clothing (about $8 for small bottle but it goes a long way). I soak my cute outfit in a 1/4 capful of this stuff after every workout to ensure its longevity.

Target has some cute workout clothes. What I do is invest in the support ($50 for a bra is not unreasonable) and then buy cheap outer wear at Old Navy or Target or Gap. Of course the science stuff (wicking tops; insulated leggings) is going to cost you a lot...no way around it.

SPLURGE and buy the cute top. you're gonna look awesome and feel awesome, and if that's what keeps you doing your 2 dance classes, it's so worth the top! next time you feel like getting dinner out, think about skipping it, and it will all come out even.

I completely agree with you.
I used to (still kind of do) wear whatever I had for work out clothes. Not worth investing in - as far as i was concerned. But lately, my eyes have been drawn to more appealing garments.
I confess -- I used to feel sort of the same way about pajamas. In fact, my work out gear (sweat pants and a tee) was the same thing I wore to bed.
When I studied in England -- I thought that it was not just economical to have dual usage for these clothes, but saved space in my luggage.
The realization that perhaps I should think more about this point came to me, when one night, my friend Joe surprised me by knocking at my dorm room door after 11 pm.
I opened the door in my ugly green sweatpants. And my uglier green (of a different shade) sweatshirt that I had stolen from my brother years back.
Upon opening the door in my groggy state -- his reaction was:
"IEWW."
Then he stopped himself, and greeted me properly. Quickly afterwards, he was (almost incontrollably) brought back to saying:
"IEWWWWWWW!"
He was so distracted by my GROTESQUENESS that he could barely return to the point of his visit.
Of course, maybe that wasn't JUST due to my clothing. My wild hair and crusty swollen eyes might've contributed to this...

I completely Agree with Katherine. Firstly you know this but- if y ou don't wear a good workout Bra- you'll be a knee knocker in no time- gravity and time and kind to the boobies when unprotected. Secondly- it hurts!!!!
Thirdly workout clothing is not just good for the looks- it is made of material that breaths better and therefore protects against bacteria that causes oder and thinning. Paragon Sports has the best Sports bras for the most affordable prices - for a little over $30 you can get the sports bra-tops- I like those the best- I feel the most supported- and its a top! They also look really good as they hold everything in. Oh and they dry really fast and wash really easily. So go for it!

I have Nike Dri-Fit workout gear and trust me, it's worth it!
I've had the dri-fit pants for YEARS - I'm talking late '90s. They are still in great condition and they keep the sweat away from my body - it really does work. In fact, I think I'm going to get more before the summer's out.
BTW, nice post on Tiesha Sargeant. I actually thought about you when I read that she was in Prep for Prep. The first time I heard about PFP was on your blog.
But I digress...

The ones that are small enough to fit in your pocket will not have a high voltage but it is still enough to drop an attacker.

I love this! I'm pretty sure my yoga instructor has the same top. She always has the cutest workout clothes. But I guess if that's your job, it'd be easier to buy a lot of cute workout clothes. She had us doing the hardest routine on a anti burst gym ball the other day, and all I could think about was where she got that top!
