This weekend the film, Brother to Brother opens at Cinema Village in New York City. Please, Please, Please go to see this film. I saw it at Sundance and met the director and really think it is an important film to see.
A drama that looks back on the Harlem Renaissance from the perspective of an elderly, black writer who meets a gay teenager in a New York homeless shelter. It's not the most incredible film in the world but honestly there are so many incredible moments in the film and if you identify with being lonely or isolated because of who you are and not for anything you've done, this is the film to see. Plus, Anthony Mackie is great in it.
The first weekend is a big one for films so try to see it this weekend so that the film will get a wide release.
I second Angela's emotions...because my friend Duane is a major character in it. I'm in the wilds of Northern California, but when I emerge I'm going in search of that movie.
