Today I learned that women got the right to vote in 1920. I also learned that The Voting Act extended the right to vote to all races in 1965. And in 1966 the 24th Amendment extended the right to vote to all classes.
So, if I was alive in 1920, I couldn't have voted until 46 years later!!! I had a conversation today about it and it went like this:
Woman: Wow, women didn't get the right to vote until 1920. That seems late. I can't believe that we couldn't have voted until then.
Me: Well, you couldn't voted until then.
Woman #1: Oh, um, right.
And you wonder why feminism is so divided along racial lines.
