I am addicted to award shows. It’s a real issue. Here are my thoughts in no particular order:
This Allison Janney thing has GOT TO STOP. I mean, how many times is she going to win. The West Wing is NOT good anymore. Deal with it.
The biggest surprises were:
1--James Spader for The Practice, which MADE MY NIGHT. He is a total freak and absolutely brilliant at it.
2--The Amazing Race, which I have never seen but since I love upsets, was psyched to see win. I have a lot of conflicted emotions about The Apprentice that I will write in a longer post.
I know that I love Jon Stewart when he can beat one of my favorite people, Dave Chappelle in not one but TWO categories and I’m not even mad.
Now that it’s over, I can say something that I’ve been wanting to say for about 11 years: I don’t really like Fraiser. It’s not horrible but I don’t get what the hub bub was about. I felt similarly about Seinfeld. You know, maybe it has something to do with both shows featuring men that are not that cute with gorgeous women. Hmmm ... I’ll have to think about that.
That said, I don’t have to tell you how I felt about Kelsey Grammer winning.
Or David Hyde Pierce (though I think he is a better actor than Kelsey Grammer). He even said it himself when he said, “Wow, that’s not the way I would’ve gone.” I was all about Jeffrey Tambor. He’s a genius!
I LOVE ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT!!!! Finally the props it deserves. FOX can’t cancel it now.
I was happy to see Sarah Jessica Parker win. Yeah, there’s something about her that feels a little phony but who cares. I’m not hanging out with her. Cynthia Nixon’s win was a nice thing as well.
I have another radical statement here. I didn’t think Meryl Streep was that good in Angels in America. I knew she was going to win and Judy Davis was smart to not even get on the plane but there were so many other people who could’ve rightfully won in that category. Actors just worship her in this way that I as just a regular gal will never understand.
Mos Def and Alan Rickman didn’t look that happy when Something the Lord Made won for Best TV Movie. There’s a story there.
Jeffrey Wright is my hero. Every day. All the time.
Thank god The West Wing didn’t win again. The Sopranos is LONG overdue.
I don’t have anything to say about Elaine Stritch. Whenever I see people making a fool of themselves, I change the channel. I can’t take it.
I am going to watch Lost on Wednesday so please, please stop with the commercials!!
