A Little Something Different

Tomorrow I leave for The Sundance Film Festival.  We have an outreach table there and I will be talking to filmmakers about outreach/distribution for their docs.  (I think.  Honestly I am not 100% sure.)  My boss could not go so she asked me to. 

At first I was pretty grumpy about going.  I hate the lines for movies you don't get into anyway.  It is cold as sh#*!  I tried to belly ache to my friend, Kim, about this but she just rolled her eyes and said, "I just don't feel sorry for you."

She's right.  I need to get over myself.

But that's not the point of this entry.

I wanted to do something girly for myself since I have been working really, really hard.  So I bought a fancy new coat and decided to figure out how to give myself "smoky eyes' while I wear 7 layers all week.  For the ladies -- or the dudes who want to look like ladies -- this video is for you.  It is a great step by step for the smoky eyes.  I think it is my Park City look.

If this was the year ...

that I was nominated for a Golden Globe, I would be pissed! F@#* gratitude!

The Joys of IKEA

This is Mark. He is living in Ikea (in Paramus) all this week. It is some kind of performance art type thing that I am sure he will get some huge grant for. We went to visit him (and buy a bunch of stuff for the office and for ourselves). He was busy checking his email and hanging with his friends so we did not talk to him. We felt slighted because we wanted to have Swedish meatballs with him. Oh well.

I sort of can't believe ...

that I joined Facebook. But I did. And I really do prefer it to Myspace.

I am not quite ready to poke people or take quizzes though I am sure I will be in time.

Ah social networking.

Weddings and More Weddings

I love weddings. I do. At the actual ceremony, I always have a great time and am moved.

What I have a harder time with is all of the stuff that surrounds weddings. By stuff I mean wedding etiquette stuff or gifts or various parties. I am going to a wedding this fall and the bride had this card in the invitation saying that gift cards were required and expected. This is a direct quote. Geez.

One other wedding related thing I hate are cheesy over the top wedding websites. I appreciate the convenience of having all of this info online but sometimes people take it a little too far. It is especially hard when people who barely know each other -- who have been dating for a hot minute -- have these huge websites with all of this text about the story of how they met. I know this seems ironic since I have a blog and share all kinds of personal information about myself. So be it. All I know is that when I get married, in the section that asks how we met, I am simply going to put our phone numbers and a sentance: If you want to know how we met, just call us and ask us. We'd love to tell you the story again and again!

I read this funny, funny piece in The New Yorker's Shouts and Murmers that spoofed wedding websites. It made me laugh. Be sure to click on the links. They lead to an actual site.

How did you not know he was gay? It was so obvious. His friends, his family. I mean, how did you explain the Wham days to yourself? What the heck?

Not A Lot To Say

Not sure why. Been really busy at work and my brain has been filled with those details.

I did wake up with "Eye of The Tiger" in my head. Seriously.

I had a dream that I was at some event with Bradley Whitford. We chatted and then he introduced me to Terrance Howard. He was wearing a striped sweater and glasses. Later I was at a bad movie theater looking for popcorn and there was none. I had to drive over to some event which was pretty scary since I can not drive. Somehow I was able to drive on emptier streets.

Clean Your House!

Most of you probably do this on a regular basis but I do not.  Not nearly enough.  This weekend I decided I was going to get rid of all of the clutter in my house and in my mind and it really, really worked!    I forget how much I love my cute little place once I actually clean it. 

I have come to a decision which is that ... and this is hard to say ... I am getting a cleaning person to come to my house once a month.  It feels completely decadent but I just feel like I am grown up and I have to accept somethings.  I am not a neat person.  At all.  I try but it's just not in me.  It never has been.  I am a busy gal and I need some help.

I put up shelves and created a little work area for myself.  This has been long overdue.  Just having an area that I write at made me do some more writing.  Plus, I am handy if I put my mind to it!
