So Sad
I just got back from Sundance (more on that later -- have to write a blog entry for work) and am happy to just be sitting on my mini-couch making chili. The simple pleasures life man, enjoy it! Life is so short.
Yesterday I heard the sad news that Heath Ledger passed away. I was at a panel and my phone was blowing up for hours! I can not believe it. I do not have anything deep or new to share about this tragedy. I just feel sad about it.
As many of you know, Brokeback Mountain is one of my all time favorite movies and Heath was just so incredible in it. He was such a talented actor who genuinely seemed like a good guy. I stalked him one day during a house sitting gig in Boerum Hill and he was just so adorable pushing his little daughter around in her stroller.
Truly I feel so sad for his little daughter. What a loss!
I just feel strange about all of the focus on how he died. I understand wanting to know but personally, the focus on the details of whether it was a suicide or an overdose just makes me feel strange. It is not going to bring him back.
I suppose from a societal persepctive, we need to understand this a bit more, especially in light of Brad Renfro's recent death.
I really, really hope the press leaves his family alone. The photos of the paprazzi taking photos of his body going into the ambulance was just icky. Please let these people grieve in peace.
Update: I read this great entry from my fave TV gossip maven, Michael Ausiello. It made me watch Brokeback again too. Man I am crying!

Mabye you are right that it does not matter how he died- but on the other hand I really think we need to worry about our society if a person who had so much talent, looks, brains and a booming career ahead of him as well as beautiful child buckled under the pressure of fame and stardom. I am not saying that if he did commit suicide that it was necessarily his public life but I do think that two actors dieing of a drug overdose in one week does need some close observing. I hope Heath rests in peace and that Little Matilda ledger will grow up knowing that she came from super talented stock. I do agree that as always TMZ is gross!
